ASPIRING TEACHERS ORGANIZED FOR MODERN SCIENCE

PREAMBLE
We, the Bachelor in Secondary Education (BSEd) students major in Physical Science of Sorsogon State College- Sorsogon City Campus, imploring the aid of Divine Providence, in order to establish a society that shall promote greater advancement in scientific works, cater closer relationship among the members, the spirit of cooperation in task of nation building under the new society, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.
ARTICLE I
Name and Domicile
SECTION 1: This organization shall be known as Aspiring Teachers Organized for Modern Science (ATOMS).
SECTION 2: This shall be non-profit, non-political, and non-sectarian organization.
SECTION 3: This organization shall have its office at the Sorsogon State College- Sorsogon City Campus, Student Services Building.
SECTION 4: This organization shall have the common seal which is the symbol of the atom surrounding the earth. The official color shall be black.
ARTICLE II
Goals and Objectives
SECTION 1: Shall promote science consciousness and involvement among the other.
SECTION 2: a. Expose the members of the organization to the changes in our environment through effective discoveries.
b. To promote great potentials of scientific achievements within the school and the community.
c. To uplift the degree of knowledge of the students aspiring to become science mentors through scientific development awareness.
d. (1) renounce coercion, violence and hazing a mean of attaining organizational goals (2) uphold the supremacy of higher authorities (3) ensure adherence to existing laws.
ARTICLE III
Membership
SECTION 1: All BSEd students major in Physical Science could be a member of this organization upon payment of membership fee.
SECTION 2: Affiliation into the organization shall be approved by the body with the recommendation from the adviser of this organization.
SECTION 3: Affiliation should be renewed at the beginning of each school year.
SECTION 4: Any BEEd or GEEd student is allowed to join this organization upon payment of membership fee and completion of the membership form.
SECTION 5: Only Physical Science majors are allowed to join this organization upon payment of the membership fee and completion of the membership form.
Proposed Amendments:
SECTION 5: Only Physical Science majors are allowed to join this organization upon payment of the membership fee and completion of the membership form.
ARTICLE IV
Rights and Duties of Members
SECTION 1: Every member shall exercise to;
· Express his self to all discussions and participate in the local, provincial and national science fair.
· Claim for the benefits due to him/her.
· Exercise suffrage or proceedings of ATOMS.
· Give comments and opinions regarding his observations about the organization.
SECTION 2: Every member of the ATOMS must observe and follow dedicatedly the duties:
· Promote the objectives of the organization.
· Attend meetings and participate actively in all activities of the organization.
· Obey the rules and regulations of the organization.
· Respect and obey the resolution promulgated by Executive Board.
ARTICLE V
Officers
SECTION 1: The Executive Board shall be composed of the following selected officers:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Auditor
P.I.O.
Business Managers
Represent
ARTICLE VI
Terms of Office
SECTION 1: Officers and members shall be designated one-year term of office.
SECTION 2: Officers possess re-election.
ARTICLE VII
Bill of Duties
SECTION 1: Officers
a. The President shall preside over all meetings of ATOMS and perform other duties such:
1. Sign official communications, requests, receipts and resolution.
2. Initiate projects for at least one in semester.
3. Provide progress reports to be submitted to the in-charge student affairs.
4. Represent external activities of designated representative.
b. The Vice President
1. In the absence of the president will assume to carry out all designated responsibilities of the president and the body of the organization.
2. Accept the resignation of the president with unanimous concurrence of the members of the executive body.
c. The Secretary
1. Shall keep the minutes of the organization meetings; prepare resolutions, permits, reports and documents of the organization.
2. Keep all records or organizational proceedings and properly check attendance of members during meetings and other activities.
3. Shall assist the president and perform other duties designated to him/her by the organization.
d. The Treasurer
1. Shall keep the money, financial reports and documents of the organization.
2. Prepares financial statement at the end of the semester.
3. Issue receipt for all incurred expenses and release money with the approval of the president and the body.
4. Evaluate budget proposed of the members best recommended by the body.
e. The Auditor
1. Shall be responsible for the check and balance of the funds of the organization.
2. Submit financial statement every activities performed by the organization.
3. Cooperate with the treasurer.
f. The P.I.O.
1. Shall be responsible for the press release and other publications of the organization.
2. Serves the spokesperson of the organization.
g. The Business Managers
1. Shall provide or be responsible for the income generating projects of the organization.
2. Perform other duties designated by the organization.
h. Representatives
1. Shall represent every year level and major in every meeting.
2. Perform other duties designated by the organization.
SECTION 2: The Activities of the Organization are:
a. To sponsor at least two science activities each semester.
b. To attend annual convention and other meetings when their presence is required.
c. Submit progress reports every semester to the in-charge of the student affairs.
d. Accomplish at least one tangible project during each term.
ARTICLE VIII
Election
SECTION 1: The member of SSC-Sorsogon City Campus (SCC) shall elect each officer in the election shall be parliamentary through VIVA VOVE.
SECTION 2: Election of officer must be conducted as soon as the classes are organized.
SECTION 3: Students to be nominated are those who are not holding two or more position in any recognized student organizations of the institution.
SECTION 4: Nominee in the position of the president must be specifically from the 3rd year level only and the nominee in the position of the vice president must be specifically from 2nd year only.
ARTICLE IX
Disciplinary Measures for Members and Officers
SECTION 1: Any member or officer can be disciplined for any violation of the Constitution and By-laws.
SECTION 2: Punishment for slight violation shall be through the student’s clearance and shall not exceed other than removal from the office and termination of his/her membership of the organization upon the approval of the adviser and the body.
ARTICLE X
Meetings
SECTION 1: The Executive Board shall prepare the agenda for the body in regular session.
SECTION 2: Parliamentary procedure shall be adopted during regular meetings.
SECTION 3: The president may not call an emergency meeting except exigencies that should be regarded.
ARTICLE XI
Approval and Effectively
This Constitution and By-laws shall take effect upon its approval by at least majority of its members and officials.
